October 25 & 26 Birth Doula Training
Join us for Florence’s only birth training that combines evidence-based education with practical skills to prepare you for confident, compassionate birth support. With focus on evidence-based, informed consent, and compassionate care, this workshop offers the foundation you need to deepen your calling as a doula—equipping you to guide families through birth and into the postpartum period.
Day 1 – Foundations of Birth Work
Role of the Doula – what we do (and don’t do)
Birth physiology – understanding labor, hormones, and the natural process
Emotional support skills – presence, active listening, grounding techniques
Labor comfort measures – hands-on techniques, positioning, and pain relief options
Navigating hospital and home birth settings – understanding different environments
Effective communication – collaborating with clients, families, and medical staff
Day 2 – Practical Skills & Professional Development
Hands-on practice – counterpressure, rebozo work, birth ball techniques
Supporting interventions – epidurals, inductions, and cesarean birth support
The immediate postpartum period – newborn transition and early breastfeeding basics
Business essentials – contracts, pricing, marketing your services
Client care – prenatal visits, birth planning, and postpartum follow-up
Ethics and scope of practice – professionalism and boundaries
